Due to temporary school closures resulting from COVID-19, Ocean House Management (OHM) Collection, operators of Ocean House, Weekapaug Inn, Watch Hill Inn, and the Inn at Hastings Park and the Ocean House Fund for Charitable Giving, have announced that the Food Truck, Off the Menu, will deliver and distribute complimentary lunches to local children 16 and under.
The Food Truck will be centrally located at the Ice Rink at 61 Main Street in Westerly. This community service begins Friday, March 20, and is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at least through April 1. People can watch Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn’s Facebook Pages for the latest information.
“We feel a deep responsibility to provide a service for children and families in need and to help alleviate the difficulties that many local families are facing at this time,” said OHM president and managing director Daniel Hostettler. “We understand that with the closure of schools, many underserved children may not be getting the food they ordinarily would receive. Our objective is for our culinary team and staff to serve the community in a meaningful way, and inspire other organizations as well.”
The Ocean House Fund for Charitable Giving is a donor-advised fund administered in cooperation with the Rhode Island Foundation, a 501c3 organization, to focus on philanthropic efforts to support children, the disadvantaged, and foodways related causes in the New England area. Donations and distributions of the Fund are determined annually by a committee of employees.
