As someone that lived in Hawaii during my elementary school age years, this article caught my eye. At first I thought- man, as a kid I would have loved this decision. Then I immediately remembered how hard it was to get up to go back to school the first day after a 3-4 day holiday weekend (seems it took a day or so to get back into the swing of things) and wonder what kind of impact this will have on someones ability to remain engaged and focused for learning.

Good point, Mary. We hope this doesn’t have any negative long-term effects on the learning process.
