Classic Beauty, La Playa Carmel gets a new look.

The Central Coast area surrounding Carmel, California, is known for its beautiful coastline, internationally renowned golf courses, elegant art galleries and boutiques, and famed wineries. Carmel-by-the-Sea’s newest luxury boutique hotel is also one of its oldest, most cherished landmarks. Built in 1905 by California landscape artist Christian Jorgenson as a gift for his wife, La Playa Carmel has enjoyed a long history as the Grand Dame of the scenic seaside community. The mansion was converted into a hotel in 1916 and has remained a cherished getaway for the past century. Now, under the stewardship of Grossman Company Properties and Classic Hotels and Resorts, La Playa has been thoughtfully renovated and modernized.

When La Playa Carmel opens its doors in August after a multimillion-dollar renovation, loyal guests will find its original old-California charm intact, but with many upgrades. Public spaces and all 75 guest rooms have been transformed with new contemporary coastal style. In addition to the chic guestroom décor (plantation shutters, pillow-top mattresses, and a fresh citrus color palette), guests will enjoy completely renovated bathrooms. Some well-loved traditions have not changed at La Playa Carmel, most notably the Signature Breakfast Buffet served in the library.

La Playa Carmel is an ideal home base from which to explore the region. For local jaunts the hotel has a fleet of bicycles available exclusively to guests. After a short drive, guests can find themselves on the links at Pebble Beach, at the Heller Estate Winery in Carmel Valley, or at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Many guests enjoy ending the day at La Playa’s cozy bar and lounge, where drinks and a menu of light fare are served throughout the day and evening.

The Winter Havel Hotel initially designed by acclaimed architect Albert Anis, was first unveiled on Ocean Drive in South Beach in 1939. The oceanfront hotel began a restoration earlier this year while ensuring that the historical integrity of the property was conserved. The hotel’s exclusive location lends to guests’ unique experiences of the most famous and energetic street on South Beach, just steps from the water. The 71-room hotel boasts nautical-inspired interiors, an ode to the majestic ocean liners of the era, with a blend of modern touches, including terrazzo flooring, glass blocks, chrome finished railings, and a grand cruise ship-inspired staircase. Inspiring escapes

Luxury destination club Inspirato announced the release of 19 new members-only vacation residences, including the addition of 10 new multimillion-dollar, single-family homes, to the club’s Signature Residences portfolio. Beachfront properties in Southern California, Nantucket, and Kapalua, Hawaii are among the new residences.
