A Bronx native, Jennifer Lopez, recently purchased a custom-designed Hamptons Mansion near Mecox Bay for $10 million.

The 8,659 square-foot home, which was built in 2006, features eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a theatre, pool, sauna, and steam room. But what caught Lopez’s eye was the promise of privacy that also came with the property. Her new home is set on three acres and tucked into a cul-de-sac on Bay Lane. That will give her, her 25-year-old boyfriend Casper Smart, and twin five-year-olds, Emme and Max, plenty of space to do as they please.

An expanded patio and a new, intimate ladies’ garden allow guests to enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea & sweets or a glass of wine before or after dinner amid the property’s remarkable downtown green space, tucked behind privets, dogwoods, boxwoods, hydrangeas and beds of English ivy.

Union Street Inn’s signature amenity is its home-style breakfasts, available in the dining room, on the garden patio or in bed – it’s the only Nantucket B&B to serve a full cooked-to-order breakfast. Co-owner Deborah Withrow’s menu features dishes like French toast with local Challah bread, fresh berries and Vermont maple syrup and smoked salmon on a toasted bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, fresh chives and dill.  In addition to home-baked cookies, guests look forward to the inn’s house-made carrot cake and brownies in the afternoon.

The package features a designer room with Veuve Clicquot and seasonal, handmade, organic chocolates upon arrival, a $100 voucher for dinner at one of several hand-picked island restaurants and a $20 voucher to local craft brewery Cisco Brewers – their cobble-stoned courtyard is the ideal spot to bask in some early spring sun and sip a Whale’s Tale Pale Ale. Maurice Fatio-designed House Sells For $11.5 million

850 Ocean Boulevard, Maurice Fatio

550 S. Ocean Blvd, designed by Maurice Fatio

Carolyn Lee Andrews has sold her longtime winter home at 550 S. Ocean Blvd. for a recorded $11.5 million. The landmarked oceanfront property was the second prominent Maurice Fatio-designed house in the Estate Section to sell within a week.

The buyer was a Florida limited liability company named 550 South Ocean Blvd. LLC with a South Flagler Drive address in West Palm Beach, according to the deed recorded Tuesday by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office.

Real estate agent Cam Kirkwood of Coastal Sotheby’s International Realty in Palm Beach Gardens, who represented Andrews in the sale, had originally priced the house at $18 million but later dropped the price to $16.8 million. He also acted on Andrews’ behalf in her recent purchase of a condominium in Via Delfino on Singer Island, where she moved this week, Andrews said Tuesday. The deed for that transaction has not yet been recorded.

Reached Wednesday, Kirkwood said a confidentiality agreement prevented him and Andrews from commenting about specific details of the sale or the parties involved. Kirkwood’s agency was the only one involved in the deal, according to the “closed” listing for the property in the Regional Multiple Listing Service.

Andrews said she will miss her Mediterranean-style house, which was built in 1930.

“I loved it, but it was just too much for me,” she said. “I didn’t cry when I drove away. I just thanked God that I was able to live in there.”

In December 1986, Andrews and ex-husband, Neal L. Andrews Jr., had paid a recorded $1.89 million for the house directly across South Ocean Boulevard from the beach, property records show. Carolyn Andrews assumed sole ownership of it in 1998.

Carolyn Andrews oversaw renovations at the residence, which has five bedrooms and 10,328 square feet of living space inside and out.

Built of coral keystone with an L-shaped floor plan, the house stands on a lot measuring nearly half an acre with its front door facing Via Marina, about a quarter-mile south of Worth Avenue. The two wings meet at a three-story tower with a guest room at the top.

A previous owner had installed the mercury-backed beveled-mirrored walls in the “petit salon” off the living room, as well as the downstairs powder room’s floral wallpaper, said to date from 1730, Andrews told the Daily News last year.

“When I bought the house, Gracie from New York called me and said if I was going to change the paper, they’d take it because it was so valuable,” she, referring to the venerable wallpaper manufacturer and importer.

The extensively landscaped backyard features a 20-by-45-foot saltwater pool and terraced gardens. A second-story veranda atop the loggia faces the pool area.

The house was built for Dr. Daniel J. McCarthy of Germantown, Pa., who named it Villa Blarney after Castle Blarney near Cork, Ireland. Carolyn Andrews, a ballroom dancer, had rechristened it Villa Amante del Baile (“lover of the dance”).

Last Friday, Villa Today, a 1931 lakefront house noted society architect Fatio designed at 260 Via Bellaria, changed hands privately a recorded $15 million. Villa Today and the house on South Ocean Boulevard were among many homes designed by Fatio in the Estate Section.

SAC Capital Advisors Founder Buys $60 Million East Hampton Home

An oceanfront house in East Hampton owned by Steven A. Cohen, founder of SAC Capital Advisors.

Steven A. Cohen is known for his rapid-fire trading style, moving in and out of stocks with dizzying speed at his hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors. He seems to be taking a similar approach to his real estate.

Mr. Cohen reached a deal last week to pay $60 million for an oceanfront property on Further Lane in East Hampton, on Long Island, according to a person with direct knowledge of the sale. The home, which was listed for sale late last week, is down the road from one he already owns. At the same time, he has put on the market his duplex apartment in the Bloomberg Tower on the East Side of Manhattan, this person said. His asking price: $115 million.

News of Mr. Cohen’s real estate activity surfaced a day after reports that he purchased Picasso’s “Le Rêve” for $155 million from the casino owner Stephen A. Wynn. The acquisition is one of the priciest private art deals ever completed. He has quietly offered other works from his vast collection up for sale, according to several dealers.

The property was previously owned by Robert B. McKeon, a founding partner of the investment bank Wasserstein Perella. Mr. McKeon committed suicide in September at the age of 58.

The $60 million purchase is among the most expensive real estate sales transacted on Long Island’s South Fork. It is unclear whether Mr. Cohen is selling his first Further Lane house.

Ed Petrie, the real estate broker at Sotheby’s International Realty who had the exclusive listing, declined to comment, as did Jonathan Gasthalter, an SAC spokesman.

Mr. Cohen is a charter resident of the Bloomberg Tower on Lexington Avenue, which also goes by the name One Beacon Court. He paid about $24 million in 2005 for the 10,000-square-foot property on the 51st and 52nd floors.

If Mr. Cohen got the $115 million that he is asking for his Bloomberg Tower pad, it would be the highest-priced sale to date of a Manhattan apartment.

Mr. Cohen’s primary dwelling is a home in Greenwich, Conn., which has a basketball court and a two-hole golf course, and he owns other real estate in New York. Last year, he purchased a property in the West Village on Washington Street for $38.8 million.

Napa Valley Winery to Age Wine In Charleston Harbor

Mira Winery to Become First American Winery to Experiment with Ocean Aging

Mira Winery, based in Napa Valley, will be the first American winery to experiment with aging wine in the ocean when divers place four cases of 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon in specially designed cages in Charleston Harbor.

Mira, which distributes to high-end restaurants and through its website, will leave the wine bottles in Charleston Harbor for three months, starting Wednesday, February 20. The objective is to understand the difference between wine aged on the ocean floor versus wine aged in the warehouse.

“We will make an initial drop to test a process which we plan to expand on in both quantity and time going forward,” said Mira Winery President Jim Dyke. “Making history in Charleston Harbor is not new, but certainly a first for a Napa Valley Winery.”

Several European wineries have experimented with aging and storing wine in the ocean, though Mira’s project is the first in the United States. Over generations, explorers have recovered wine from sunken ships and declared the wine to be enhanced by the underwater elements, such as its movements.

“The ocean has similar ideal elements that impact aging – temperature, pressure, humidity, pressure motion, light — or lack thereof — and oxygen,” said Gustavo Gonzalez, Mira Winery Winemaker. “Is there something just as impactful and interesting in aquaoir as there is about terroir?  We are going to try and find out.”

After three months, the wine will be tested and tasted by local sommeliers in comparison to the same vintage that has been stored in similar conditions above ground. Control factors going forward include how long after bottling it is submerged, as well as how long it spends underwater. Updates can be found at www.miranapa.com/charlestonharbor.

Mira Winery, launched in August 2012, employs the craftsmanship of Napa Valley 100-point winemaker Gustavo Gonzalez. Mira prioritizes craftsmanship over production, yielding handcrafted, small production wines that can be found in fine dining restaurants in CA, Charleston, SC, Palm Beach, FL and Washington, D.C. and at www.miranapa.com.

Renovation Project Resumes on Mitt Romney’s La Jolla Oceanfront Home

Romney's La Jolla, California oceanfront beach home

Romney’s current La Jolla, California oceanfront beach home

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is quadrupling the size of his California oceanfront home.

The tear down and replacement of the home was put on pause when Romney was attacked for his wealth during the 2012 campaign. Now that the presidential debate is long gone plans to demolish Romney’s 3,000-square-foot La Jolla home and replace it with a 12,000-square-foot mansion are now underway. ABC News affiliate, 10 News, construction is set to begin once the permit process is complete.

One of the highlighted renovations is the inclusion of an elevator for his cars that would carry the vehicles to his basement garage. According to

According to 10 News, some neighbors have complained about the expansion plans. However, long-time La Jolla resident Jack Clancy, who has resided in the area for 51 years, isn’t concerned about the construction plans, telling 10 News that most protests from neighbors are not because of the project itself but rather the fact that the property is owned by the former Massachusetts governor.

“Because I know there’s a height limit here and obviously he’s going to abide by everything there, and there’s going to be a pretty sharp pencil on exactly what he does,” said Clancy. “I just feel if he is able to get the necessary permits, then he’s entitled to do what he wants to do there.”

Along with the oceanfront property, Romney also owns five additional homes throughout the country.

One Thousand Ocean and Palm Beach County Locations Share Limelight in Movie ‘Parker’

One Thousand Ocean, Boca Raton Resort and other Palm Beach County locations share limelight in movie ‘Parker’

Jennifer Lopez, Kim Gambino, Jessica and Jamie Telchin, Maria Scarola and Jason Statham in the One Thousand Ocean lobby

Jennifer Lopez, Kim Gambino, Jessica and Jamie Telchin, Maria Scarola and Jason Statham in the One Thousand Ocean lobby

The stars were out January 25th at One Thousand Ocean’s Private Screening Party celebrating the nationwide premiere of the action thriller “Parker.” Although Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham received top billing, viewers thought the real stars were selected locations in Palm Beach County. Among them were the iconic One Thousand Ocean Ocean-to-Intracoastal condominium and the acclaimed Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton. Additionally, the cityscapes of West Palm Beach and the island of Palm Beach were in full view for a significant portion of the film.

“When Jennifer Lopez, who plays the role of a real estate agent, tells her new client, a thief named Parker (Statham), to ‘Meet me at the One Thousand Ocean building,’ the audience filling the upstairs reserved seats at the Premier Theater at the Cinemark Palace 20 applauded and whistled with pride,” said an appreciative Jamie Telchin, president of development with LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels. An LXR affiliate developed the 52-unit building situated at the Boca Raton Inlet.

Based on the novel “Flashfire” by the late Donald Westlake, the production company making ‘Parker’ shot a key scene in One Thousand Ocean’s Signature Penthouse 601, a residence that is currently available for purchase. “Just days later, they shot another scene adjacent to the One Thousand Ocean’s Sales Center, as well as multiple key shoots in the nearby Resort’s Cloister lobby and at the landmark pink tower.

Following the screening, guests enjoyed a private dessert reception in the Screen Writers Room at Bogart’s Bar & Grille. It was there that Telchin recalled when, in the fall of 2011, One Thousand Ocean’s Director of Sales Maria Scarola called him and said, “There are about 20 people who just walked into the Sales Center and are claiming they want to film a movie starring JLo and Jason Statham at One Thousand Ocean.”

Continuing, Telchin said, “Initially I thought ‘Yeah, sure,’ but after learning more about the plot and what they were going to shoot, we gave them permission. We put our faith in Director Taylor Hackford who had singled out One Thousand Ocean for a key scene, and he certainly did not disappoint us. Our staff and residents loved seeing our iconic building on the screen.”

Telchin noted that the film crew literally took over the building for a full day of shooting. “This required a lot of coordination and we went to great lengths to make everything run as smoothly as possible. Now that I’ve seen the fruits of this labor and the incredible exposure we received on screen, it was well worth the effort and speaks volume about the status and prestige of One Thousand Ocean,” he said. “The filmmaker made the choice to shoot here after scouting several other locations. We are thrilled they chose our building and feel they did so because it is a truly unique South Florida property.”

Mayor Susan Whelchel, a guest at the screening, said “Never a day or week passes that someone doesn’t contact the City of Boca Raton wanting to film a scene for a movie here. Usually it means seeing Boca Raton on the screen for about seven seconds. But not this film! With ‘Parker,’ you really get your money’s worth. It allows people to see the beauty of our county, including Boca Raton.”

Before concluding, the Mayor added, “The local economy also booms and blossoms when filmmakers come to the area [creating jobs, booking hotel rooms, patronizing restaurants, etc.].”

Among other guests at the screening were Troy McLennan, Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce president; Jerry Fedele, CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and his wife Terry; Barbara and Dick Schmidt, one of the community’s most philanthropic couples; Randi Emerman, president of the Palm Beach International Film Festival; numerous One Thousand Ocean residents; One Thousand Ocean sales and marketing team members; and Boca Raton Resort & Club representatives.

Currently only six residences remain at One Thousand Ocean, including Signature Penthouse 601 and two other finished, move-in-ready residences, as well as three unfinished, completely customizable top-floor penthouses. Prices are from approximately $3 to $15 million.

For further information, visit www.onethousandocean.com or call (561) 869-5000 to arrange a private showing, including Signature Penthouse 601 where a key scene in “Parker” was filmed.

Ocean Home Magazine Unveils its Redesign with the February/March 2013 Issue

Ocean Home February MarchLuxury shelter publication adds more product and design pages, revamped logo, and updates layout and overall look

(BOSTON) – January 28, 2013 – Published six times per year by luxury publisher RMS Media Group, Ocean Home captures the lifestyles and designs found at high-end coastal developments and destinations, from the Caribbean to California. In response to the growing demand for more product and destination features, Ocean Home has undergone a redesign, unveiling the new look with its February/March 2013 issue. The redesign includes more features, bigger pictures, and a new logo.

Comments Rick Sedler, president of RMS Media Group, publisher of Ocean Home: “”When the magazine started in 2006, Ocean Home was dedicated to the real estate industry, including agents of oceanfront property listings, as well as developers of coastal properties. Although we focused on the trade components of coastal living, our subscribers wanted more lifestyle and décor features. The redesign captures the essence of our magazine’s core mission of catering to our readers’ high-end lifestyle, whether they have owned a coastal home and want to accessorize it, or they are looking for a new oceanfront home.”

Changes to the editorial content include a new department, “Town Focus,” in which Ocean Home dedicates feature space to one coastal location, going in depth to paint a picture of what vacationing—or living—in that destination would be like. For the February/March issue, Ocean Home’s first Town Focus brings readers to Coronado Island in Southern California.

The editorial team also swapped out its former back page, “Sea Life,” with a new closer called “Point of View.” The new page features a photograph from inside a room of a private home that affords a stunning sea view. “It’s the perfect ending point and it beautifully sums up the mood of Ocean Home,” adds Lindsay Lambert, editor of Ocean Home. “In addition, we’ve added more product pages, for both the home and personal style, showing readers the latest must-haves for their coastal homes and travels.”

The new look of Ocean Home magazine includes a new, fresh logo, updated fonts and color schemes, and expanded and new sections. “In addition to showcasing homes and resorts, the new Ocean Home celebrates the beauty and active lifestyle of coastal living. We offer readers a fresh approach to the traditional shelter magazine,” says design director Ryan Jolley, who joined Ocean Home in October 2012 and spearheaded the redesign.

The February/March issue brings with it a larger feature well, giving readers more photos, tips, and in-depth stories. See Ocean Home’s fresh look at: oceanhomemag.com/subscribe/digitaledition.

Malibu Beach House Formerly Rented by Usher and P. Diddy Now Listed For Sale

This Cape Cod-inspired Malibu beach home, formerly rented out by Usher and P. Diddy (at separate times) is now on the market for $16.75 million, reports Zillow Blog. With the former celebrity stays and 80 feet of beachfront property, this pricey estate is worth every penny. The jaw-dropping two-floor beach estate is 5,653-square-feet with 6 bedrooms (including 2 master suites) and 6 bathrooms, along with a 1-bedroom detached guest house. The home was recently renovated to match up to the superstar attention being given, including a sauna and wine cellar fit to hold up to 462 bottles. Built in 1994, the property also features skylights, an office, a bar, and four fireplaces. And what better way to add to the Cape Cod-feel than with a front lawn, gardens, and a white picket fence.

AnnMaria Baldine’s Newest Collection: INTERPRETATIONS

INTERPRETATIONS, the newest collection from internationally published artist/designer AnnMaria Baldine, offers a stunning visual palette of emotions. Inspired by reflections, visions, encounters and experiences which touched her deeply, she shares the journey in her visual interpretation, playing with light, color, shape, and texture to evoke those same emotions in her viewer.

AnnMaria loves color and uses it confidently but this time she uses it to take us places she has never taken us before, with dazzling color palettes. For the not quite so adventurous, the same designs create contemplative moods in soft neutral tones.

“I’ve been a doodler and a dreamer since childhood, a prerequisite to my life today as an artist/designer. Recently I experienced a liberating transformation of growth and self-expression through my chosen art form,” she says. This evolution is most evident in the abstract expressionistic collections she introduced at the Architectural Digest Home and Design Show 2012 and the forthcoming INTERPRETATIONS.

These images may be even better than the memories that inspired them, but clearly neither compare to the satisfaction AnnMaria feels in knowing people will enjoy living with her functional art for years to come.

New Beach Villa Sells at One Thousand Ocean in Boca

One Thousand Ocean moves into the South Florida season with approximately $205 million in total closed sales, a figure which includes an all-cash transaction, this past October, for the purchase of a two-story, corner Beach Villa. The residence was sold for $3,975,000.

The Beach Villa offered an optional furniture package by international home furnishings company Roche Bobois (not reflected in the purchase price).

“Because the buyer was so happy with how Roche Bobois had staged the residence, he purchased most of the furnishings, making his move to the building a very easy one,” explained Jamie Telchin, president of development for LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels. “Sales such as this one reaffirm for us that partnering with the right design and/or home furnishings brand allows a buyer to choose the items he or she wants, without necessarily having to purchase a ‘furnished model.’”

One Thousand Ocean’s Director of Sales Maria Scarola said she had spoken with the buyer, a professional from Virginia, from time to time over nine months before he visited South Florida. When he scheduled that visit, Scarola invited him to an event co-hosted by One Thousand Ocean and Roche Bobois in the Beach Villa. “He was able to see first hand how the Beach Villa ‘lives,’ its high level of privacy, great traffic flow, and more. He loved the finishes as well as the One Thousand Ocean lifestyle and amenities offered. Being a resident allows him to elect private membership privileges at the nearby Boca Raton Resort & Club and its Boca Beach Club immediately adjacent to One Thousand Ocean,” she said. “Within a week, he made an offer and closed shortly after.”

Commenting further, Scarola said, “At the time, the buyer was also considering an attractively priced, single-family oceanfront home in Highland Beach, but decided in favor of the Beach Villa at One Thousand Ocean. We’re so glad to welcome him as a resident.”

“Quick closings are in keeping with a trend already established at One Thousand Ocean where serious prospects walk in, love our unparalleled location and lifestyle, and make their decision within a matter of days or weeks,” she added.

“We at Roche Bobois are delighted that the buyer of this Beach Villa considered our furniture package. It again shows that One Thousand Ocean and Roche Bobois are a perfect match,” said Julien Bigan, general manager of Roche Bobois in Coral Gables.

Only six of One Thousand Ocean’s 52 new condominium residences are now available as Telchin and his team gear up to what they anticipate to be the final selling season for the project. “People realize that real estate markets are stabilizing. At the same time, they see our inventory diminishing and recognize if they want to live in our building, this is the time to buy,” Telchin said, noting that the building is now more than 88% sold.

Three of the available units are move-in ready and have optional furniture packages. These include two one-story Residences and the only two-story Beach Villa remaining in the building. Additionally, there are three, customizable, designer-ready Penthouses. Prices are from approximately $3 million to $15 million.

“Our residents who have a private Resort membership enjoy an incredible level of personal service. They can choose to order room service, have a dinner party catered in their residence, or lunch served to them at their private cabana at One Thousand Ocean. It doesn’t get any better than this…and our buyers know it,” Scarola concluded.

Leonard DiCaprio Lists Malibu Oceanfront Property

Leonard DiCaprio’s Malibu oceanfront property has made the most recent list of celebrity real estate for sale, with an asking price of $23 million. DiCaprio previously had the home available for rent through the summer months for a pricy getaway at $75,000 a month for long-term, or $150,000 for a stay under six months.

However, with the popular vacation months behind us, DiCaprio decided to leave the newly remodeled, 7 bedroom, 6.5 bathroom, estate behind for a lucky new owner. This Cape Cod-themed estate is comprised of three compounds on the nearly half-acre property. With two homes and a guest house, the property includes full beach access, a fire pit, gardens, and, of course, a beachfront deck
