Sequoia, built in 1925, is a National Historic Landmark with plenty of historic memorabilia. FDR discussed war and other global issues with Winston Churchill on her decks. JFK and Richard Nixon often took refuge on Sequoia from the pressure of the political scene. While her era of being the official presidential yacht ended in the 1970s, the 104-footer still serves the president and vice president on occasion. John Ashcroft, the former attorney general, says, “The Sequoia is perhaps the most important piece of Americana not owned by the government.” Inquire for rates, 202-333-0011, sequoiayacht.com. —Diane M.
