When is a golf cart more like a luxury car? When the companies behind Porsche and other luxury automakers team up. Denmark-based Garia created what it calls a “golf car” to be more luxurious and performance-oriented than your average cart for the green. Valmet Automotive, based in Finland, manufactures the cars; it’s the same place where the Boxster and Cayman are made. Garia additionally works with Comex, the Italian firm supplying gearboxes for Ducati motorcycles, and the SAPA Group, which supplies components to Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Volvo. Featuring hand-stitched, water-resistant upholstery, each Garia can be personalized. Upgrade to seats made by a company manufacturing luxury jet seats; later this year, bucket seats will be available. You also get a choice of three exterior colors—white, cream, or Garia red—though you can opt for metallics, too. If the air scoop in the lined roof isn’t enough to keep you cool, request a built-in refrigerator at the dash, installed near the four cup holders. A digital instrument layout includes your speed, battery status, turning signals, and service warnings. Double-wishbone front suspension, hydraulic brakes, taillights, high- and low-beam headlights, and a tinted, laminated-glass windshield are standard, too. Prices start at $17,499, 210-481-5500, garia.com. —Diane M. Byrne
